Working with Extreme Vocals in VO Sessions - Kirsty Gillmore & D’Arcy Smith
If you handle game dialogue as a director, sound designer, dialogue engineer or game audio professional then at some point you'll find yourself working with vocally stressful VO. This 50 min interactive talk is for VO Directors, audio directors, dialogue engineers and anyone who needs to work with or manage actors for vocally stressful recording sessions. Two experienced directors/dialogue producers and coaches will provide methods to support
actors with their vocal health before the session, improve their mic technique and performance, reduce vocal injury and improve the audio quality and efficiency of your sessions.
Participants will have a clear understanding of how to spot vocal strain, how to mitigate potential recording issues, and how to help the actor, to improve the session efficiency, the actor's performance and the results. Sound and voice/dialogue designers will gain a fuller understanding of the physical toll of creating believable extreme VO recordings, as well as the creative vocal possibilities that are unlocked when you work with actors using safe, sustainable vocal technique.
